Isfahan
"This design is inspired by a traditional Persian hand-knotted wool carpet that contains silk highlights. The Persian Isfahan rug is a 20th Century rendition of a "vase" carpet, similar to rugs woven in the capital city of Isfahan in the 16th and 17th centuries during the Safavid Dynasty. The inclusion of birds and deer in the rug fit well into the overall design. The classic Isfahan red and blue give this rug a timelessness that allows it to complement any decor. This is one of the most intricately-detailed, fine reproductions we have ever had the pleasure of making into a ... 7"W x 10"H"
Producing a very classic tribal rug, Yalameh is a small town located north of Isfahan in central Iran. The Yalameh is a finer tribal carpet, with lively colors and diamond-shaped central medallion(s), or a superb trellis pattern of all-over squares. The symmetry and quality of these all-wool rugs are much higher than the typical tribal piece, and they frequently have a distinctive color combination of light brown, smoky blue and beige.

Bakhtiari people are a noble, ancient tribe surviving in the Chahar Mahal region of south-central Iran. Primitive Bakhtiari rugs frequently have a checkerboard or garden pattern decorated with trees-of-life, birds, flowers and animals, sometimes realistic, sometimes abstract. Generally these are woven with a Turkish knot. But some very beautiful floral patterns are still produced in the principal town of Shahr Kurd with the Persian knot, showing long, exaggerated medallions reminiscent of an earlier Isfahan style. Color schemes include many shades of brown, rust, yellow ochre, bottle green, beige, dark blue and red.

About Milliken Rugs Milliken's roots date back to 1865 when Seth Milliken and William Deering founded Deering Milliken Company, a small woolen fabrics company in Portland, Maine. Deering soon left to start his own company. In 1868, Seth Milliken moved the company headquarters to New York City, at that time the heart of the American Textile Industry. In 1884, the company invested in a new facility in Pacolet, South Carolina, and from that basic beginning the manufacturing operations grew. Milliken's dedication to quality has garnered many prestigious awards worldwide. Milliken is the only textile company in Europe that has been admitted to the British Standards Institute for Excellence in Quality. They're also one of the only companies in the United States to achieve both the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance TPM Excellence Award. Most recently, Milliken has received the Textile Industries 2001 Innovation Award.
